The scarab is a sacred beetle (the earthly form of the god Khepri). Egyptians believed that the scarab pushed the sun across the sky each day, and then would magically re-appear the next morning. For this reason, the scarab became the image of self-creation, transformation, and re-birth. With such powerful creative energy, the scarab is one of the most popular amulets in Egyptian history.
